In 2009, NYSDOT and other agencies partnered to install a roundabout at the intersection of Watervliet Shaker Road/ NY Route 155 and CR-160/Old Niskayuna Road. Driving through commercial driveways to avoid a work zone, a traffic signal or traffic congestion is illegal. Care should be taken if traveling through residential neighborhoods and motorists should be alert and watch for school buses and school children walking. Motorists are reminded that traffic laws always need to be obeyed. These routes are mentioned for the sole purpose of educating the public on alternate routes around the project site. Please note these are suggested alternate routes using main roadways. Motorists may encounter delays on the routes listed below. There may be an occasional lane closure on I-87, Route 7/2 or a crossroad that is required to complete the minor work, so motorists should still expect delays at the interchange between the hours of 9 a.m. Because work is essentially complete, specific weekly lane closure schedules will no longer be posted to this Web site. Only minor work remains for this year and it is not anticipated that there will be any significant work next year that will impact traffic. Motorists may encounter travel delays using alternate routes. Due to the possibilities of these temporary lane closures, motorists should expect some travel delays and motorists are encouraged to consider alternate routes and leave additional time for travel through or around the interchange. Temporary daily lane closures during off peak hours will be used to complete the remaining work. Motorists are encouraged to continue to use caution when driving the interchange and be aware of signs and traffic control devices since there will be a new interchange configuration and continuing work at the interchange.Īlthough the interchange is in the new SPUI configuration and the long-term lane restrictions ended, construction will be continuing for the next several months. The interchange is now open in the new Single Point Urban Interchange (SPUI) configuration. ![]() ![]() If ramps require closures, signed detours will be available for motorists. There is still some additional work planned including striping and cleanup that may require temporary lane closures during the day and at night and some travel delays should be expected. It is important that the public recognizes that, even though the work at this location appears to be finishing up, the project continues. There are no other interchange closures currently planned for the remainder of the project. At the completion of the interchange closure, the interchange was opened in the Single Point Urban Interchange (SPUI) configuration. The fourth and final interchange closure was completed on Sunday, September 12. There are NO further interchange closures planned for the project. ![]()
